Evidence that never becomes work
Somewhere in every operator we talk to there is a folder of inspection reports. They were paid for, they are accurate, and most of what they found was never fixed. Not through negligence: the finding was in a PDF, the asset history was in a maintenance system, the sensor data was in a historian, and joining the three was a person's Monday morning.
That gap is the thing we are trying to remove. Not the inspection, not the maintenance system, not the analytics. The distance between knowing and doing.
Three things changed, and they changed in the last two years
Agents on critical infrastructure were not possible in 2021 and are not a research question in 2026. What moved is worth being precise about, because the timing is the argument.
Capture got cheap enough to repeat
A thermal pass over a plant used to be an annual event priced like one. Once the same pass costs an afternoon, inspection stops being a report you commission and becomes a signal you receive, and everything downstream can assume there is a new version of the truth every week.
Classification got good enough to attach
Detection was solved before it was useful. What changed is that a finding now carries a class, a confidence and an asset id, which is the difference between a picture a person has to interpret and a record a system can act on.
Agents got good enough to be bounded
The interesting development is not that models can reason. It is that their reasoning can be constrained, recorded and reviewed, which is the only version of autonomy anybody will run near a substation.
None of those three is useful alone. A cheap pass without classification is more images nobody reads. Classification without a system of record is a longer list. Agents without limits are not deployable on infrastructure at all. Orbitify exists because the three arrived close enough together to be built into one thing.

Over the last decade the cost of looking at an asset collapsed. A drone and a thermal camera will find more in an afternoon than a crew found in a week, and every operator we talk to now has more inspection data than they had five years ago. Almost none of them are doing more work as a result.
The bottleneck moved. It is no longer detection, it is the distance between a finding and a completed job: four systems, three teams and a person who has to hold all of it in their head on a Monday morning. That distance is what Orbitify was built to remove.

A finding that does not become work is a cost
Every inspection programme produces a report. Reports are not the product. The only measure that matters is whether the thing that was found got fixed, and how long that took.
Autonomy has to be bounded before it is useful
An agent that can act on critical infrastructure without a limit is not a more capable product, it is an unsellable one. We built the limits first and fitted the capability inside them.
The record is the asset
Models improve, cameras improve, vendors come and go. What compounds is a versioned record of what your assets looked like and what was done to them. That belongs to you, in open formats, whether or not you keep using us.
Say what does not work
There is a lot on this site we have deliberately marked as not built, not certified or not something we do. A platform for infrastructure gets exactly one chance to be caught overstating, and we would rather lose a deal than a deployment.
